On Tuesday, 11/3, Mr. Casteel took the senior class on a field trip to vote for their first time as eligible voters. Each of the seniors eligible to vote went to their polling location to cast their ballots.
Senior Jordyn Finley was one voter and when asked about her experience she said, " I was nervous, but Casteel stayed close by to help me through the whole process as moral support." Luke Jenkins, another voting senior said, "It was a patriotic feeling to have my voice heard for the first time."
The seniors are currently studying Federalism and its relationship to the US Constitution. One Constitutional provision includes the Reserved Powers granted to the States. One of those powers is the States right to establish voter qualifications within their terrotory.
The seniors that were not eligible also tagged along to witness the voting process and be better prepared for when they are eligible in the next election cycle. Great Job Mustangs!
