Emporia State Math Day Competition

November 01, 2016

On October 19th, 2016 15 students traveled to Emporia State for the 2016 Math Day competition. The competition consisted of schools from all over Kansas that wanted to take part in this competition thrown together from the Mathematics Department at Emporia State, which was headed up by Professor Connie Schrock. We were placed in Division 2 with the rest of the 1A-2A-3A schools there. Here's how they did:

Alyssa Howard, Sarah Harris, and Cari Brown placed 5th in the Algebra Team contest.

Javen McCreight, Chaz Ratcliff, and Ashley Melugin placed 2nd in the Geometry Team contest.

Payton Gawith, Mary Bisbee, and Gina Brown placed 4th in the Math Scramble Team contest.

Javen McCreight placed 5th overall in the Geometry Individual contest.

Harley Ratcliff placed in the top 50% in the Geometry Individual contest.

Alyssa Howard placed 10th in the Algebra Individual contest.

We performed better overall from last year with more students placing higher in the ranks of each test! Great job to the overall performance and representation from our school!
