Below is an article that indicates that Governor Brownback intends to cut schools again by another $57.3 million. Kansas doesn’t have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem, and our current situation is a result of a failed experiment and bad tax policy. I want staff to know why the belt has been tightened in regards to school supplies. I want everyone to know that there is a group of moderate Republicans who are drafting a bill to close the LLC loophole (which exempts all small business owners from paying any income taxes, and just so you know, a small business is classified as one that has under 500 employees) as well as adding back a percentage of income tax back to the LLCs themselves. The thought is that small businesses should have to pay some taxes, not just be exempt from paying anything. The moderates are asking that you contact your legislators to support this bill. It will be very important that the Democrats also support the bill, rather than to vote against it for political gain in the next election. The children of Kansas deserve more than cuts year after year. The children of Kansas deserve the best. Please contact your legislators and tell them that you want LLCs to pay their fair share.
